Join the Sloan Scholars Mentoring Network on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 1 pm ET for a complimentary three-hour online workshop hosted in conjunction with the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science of Stony Brook University.
As stated by the Alda Science Communication Experience:
An individual’s culture, history, and lived experiences affect how they understand and engage with new information. Without a personal connection, scientists and researchers often struggle to bridge the gap between science and society, and to share their work in effective and meaningful ways. When speaking to large audiences, all with varying experiences, backgrounds and expertise, the challenges compound.
In this three-hour, online workshop, scientists and researchers will learn strategies that can help them craft one message that resonates with different groups. Participants will examine other fields that successfully tailor mass messages to different audiences and experiment with how those practices can help them as well.
***PLEASE NOTE that in order to attend any of the special topics programs, you must have attended The Essentials workshop scheduled for July 8, 2022, or when it was previously offered on July 30, 2021 and January 28, 2022.***
Registration information for these advanced workshops will be sent to those that are eligible based on their attendance at The Essentials workshops.
