Join the Sloan Scholars Mentoring Network on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 1 pm ET for a complimentary three-hour online workshop hosted in conjunction with the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science of Stony Brook University.
As stated by the Alda Science Communication Experience:
Writing about science and research poses unique challenges for experts. Without an opportunity for another person to ask questions in the moment, writers must try to anticipate and address readers’ questions and interests in advance.
In this three-hour online workshop, researchers will learn to share their work and its significance in ways that inspire and respond to audience needs. Participants will explore ways to use evocative language, learn to recognize jargon and other concepts that may challenge diverse audiences, and practice with their peers.
This program is appropriate for a variety of written communication goals, and is designed for researchers writing for individual outside of their particular field: reviews or articles, opinion pieces, blog posts, and other mainstream media content or public outreach.
***PLEASE NOTE that in order to attend any of the special topics programs, you must have attended The Essentials workshop scheduled for July 8, 2022, or when it was previously offered on July 30, 2021 and January 28, 2022.***
Registration information for these advanced workshops will be sent to those that are eligible based on their attendance at The Essentials workshops.
