The Academic Job Market and New Faculty Boot Camp hosts approximately 25-30 Sloan Scholars PhDs over 2 to 3 days in conjunction with the Southern Regional Education Board’s Institute on Teaching and Mentoring. Programming is geared towards recent Sloan Scholar PhD graduates who have demonstrated an interest in obtaining a tenure-track academic position AND alumni who are in year 1 or 2 of their first tenure-track position.
The boot camp includes:
- Intensive workshops on CVs, cover letters, teaching statements, “chalk talks”, the campus visit, etc.
- Topical Roundtables on issues such as work/life balance, academic publishing, pedagogical approaches, preparing for tenure, etc.
All programming is designed in consultation with the SSMN advisory board. Boot camp participants receive complementary registration to SREB’s Institute on Teaching and Mentoring.
