Grants

With the generous support of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Sloan Scholars Mentoring Network is pleased to announce that we are offering three competitive grant opportunities for: 1) conference travel, 2) mentor/mentee travel , and 3) seed funding. These grants are only open to PhD graduates of the Sloan Minority PhD Program (Sloan Scholar PhDs). If you believe you are a Sloan Scholar but have not received communication from our program, please fill out this form to check your status.

Applications for the SSMN grant program will be open from February 2 to March 5. A second grant competition will take place in the summer.

The following guidelines refer to all three grant opportunities:

  • Applicants must be PhD graduates in academic tenure-track positions or intend to pursue such positions in the near future (see specifics below)
  • Accepted applications may take five to six weeks to process
  • All grant winners will be required to submit final reports, including expense reports, and commit to completing one SSMN related activity (TBD)
  • Sloan Scholar PhDs may apply once per grant category over the course of a calendar year (ex. spring applicants for seed grants may not apply for the same grant in the summer and vice versa)
  • Applicants may apply for either the conference travel grant and the seed grant OR the conference travel grant and the mentor/mentee grant. However, applicants may receive only one grant per calendar year.

Given the above guidelines, consider closely which grant competition would better suit your needs and result in the strongest application(s).
